We're often asked what the difference is between interior and exterior painting and paint. The simple answer is, "pretty much everything". From the types of paints used in order to ensure durability, UV protection from fading, surface material, exposure to elements, size and dimension, as well as flexibility of when we do the job (sometimes Mother Nature just isn't on the same clock we are!) EXTERIOR JOBS: Those tend to be a little more involved, but can have the most dramatic impact on your home's curb appeal and potentially resale value. Remember, however, that exterior painting usually involves far more than just walls. Most exterior painting involves doors (garage and other exterior doors) as well as trim work and shutters. Also, we're THRILLED to do COMMERCIAL PAINTING!!!
Paints we use for exterior jobs
Exterior paint is usually going to be exposed to dramatic weather and temperature conditions and changes. Unless a durable, UV-protected and flexible paint is used, the results will likely be short term and unsatisfactory...we won't let that happen to you.
Chipping, peeling, stretching and cracking are all things you absolutely must avoid in order to ensure a painting job that won't need to be completely removed and redone in a year or less. Exterior paints have come a long way, but there are some limitations to finish and type of paint.
With your quote, we will be very specific as to the type (not color) of paint we will use for the surface requirements of your home, and the durability you should expect.
TIME AND COST
The best way to approach any paitning job, interior or exterior, is to get a price quote FIRST. Exterior jobs are often more entailed and we want to make sure that your job is ACCURATELY QUOTED. We WELCOME competition and if you want to get a competitors bid, we'll wait because we're pretty sure that once you compare apples to apples, you'll come running back to us.
Want referrals? We have plenty, just ask and we'll give you photos, reviews and whatever you like to be confident in choosing the us, the best Painters in Hilliard.
When it comes to price, the job you have will determine the cost and the amount of time it will take to complete. We generally ask for a minimum of one week for any exterior job, with larger jobs requiring larger timeframes. If your job is a single garage door, obviously the timeframe could be much tighter. We want you to be FULLY aware of the price of your job and unlike some other painters, we won't hit you up with unexpected upcharges, clean-up fees, and equipment costs...you'll know EVERYTHING UP FRONT!
Things to consider are multiple coats and multiple layers (painting shutters requires removal, cleaning, and prep). Old Mother Nature will also have to be considered as the application of paint in a blinding blizzard or raging downpour just won't work! We'll make our best estimate on timing, but to some degree, you may have to be somewhat flexible. Some painters will quote one coat but then when you ask for another, your bill will be twice what you thought it was going to be. Not with us...if we think it's going to take two, you'll know up front. And if you want to make that call afterward, whether we put another coat on after seeing the first, that's entirely up to you and we're more than ok with that!
Once you've settled on use for the job, the good news, is that most outdoor paints dry fairly quickly and as long as humidity is not extreme, a sprinkle later in the day after a paint application won't be a factor.
We're Here for You !
We understand that the exterior of your home is your castle. When you want quality, speed, and years of curbside enjoyment from your painting contractor...you've come to the right place! Especially when you don't want to pay as much for painting, as you paid for your house!
